Triple i – intuition, imagination and innovation, is an international annual conference organised by the UP IAM Slovene Centre for Suicide Research. Distinguished experts in the field of suicidology are invited to the conference to speak about research, interventions and postvention after suicide. Relaxed environment and concurrent topics create a platform for the participants to connect, which is a starting point for progress in the field.

One of the speakers at the Triple i 2014 was Prof. Lakshmi Vijayakumar.



Dr. Lakshmi Vijayakumar (Head of SNEHA Suicide prevention Centre in Chennai) is particularly interested in combination of clinical and public health interventions and suicide prevention possibilities within them. Her lecture will be on the relevance of formulating locally relevant, culturally appropriate, cost-effective and sustainable interventions. She will present how implementing evidence-based suicide prevention research can be a challenge and opportunity at the same time.

Dr. Lakshmi’s message to young researchers, professionals, students:

Suicide is a complex behaviour. Hence, there are always different / new dimensions to explore. Working in suicidology is a life-long learning curve and one never ceases to be amazed the working of the human mind.  Sometimes, one can feel helpless and frustrated.  However, all that disappears when you feel you have helped a person to choose life over death.
